Taapsee Pannu is soon turning out to be the poster girl for female-oriented films, and we couldn’t be more glad because a.) She’s a fine actress and b.) Such stories need to be told via a medium like cinema. After films like Pink and Naam Shabana, Taapsee will be joining hands with maverick filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap, for a movie titled Womaniya, in which she’s touted to play the role of a professional shooter, for which she’ll be undergoing extensive training. The film is a two-heroine project, with the hunt for the second female lead currently underway.
Incidentally, this won’t be the first time that Taapsee would be collaborating with Kashyap. The two are already slated to work together in Manmarziyan, which Kashyap himself will direct. Whereas eh’ll only be producing Womaniya, which is slated to be helmed by a debutant whom Kashyap has been planning to introduce to Bollywood for a long time. Taapsee will begin shooting for Womaniya immediately after wrapping up Manmarziyan, which will go on floors once she’s done with the Sandeep Singh biopic, Soorma, alongside Diljit Dosanjh.
Taapseee sure looks to be making all the right noises and taking giant strides in her Bollywood career while also striking a fine balance between hardcore mainstream films like Judwaa 2 and smaller, content-driven niche films like Pink. We sure are excited to see her upcoming films as and when they hit screens.
