Kedarnath is based against the backdrop of the Uttarakhand floods and the film also deals with a very important issue that our country faces. The film focuses on the two aspects- class and caste that is prevailing in our nation. The discrimination which has been subsites since ages still exists in the society, Kedarnath deals with the same.” Being a believer of Shiva, Kedarnath holds an incredibly important place in Abhishek Kapoor’s life. Talking about the same, the director said, “More than anything else, the film is about Shiv and I am a big believer of Shiv. The simplest thing is if any man has the heart to do anything for mankind or another human being, there is Shiv in him, irrespective of the religion. If you are willing to serve another human then Shiv resides in you. Then when you say ‘Har Har Mahadev, you say Har Har Mein hai Mahadev.’ I want people to feel that.” Produced by Abhishek and Pragya Kapoor under the banner of Guy In the Sky along with Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, Kedarnath is based against the backdrop of the devastating catastrophe that hit Uttarakhand in 2013.
