The goodwill that Aamir Khan created with Dangal in China has now confirmed his status as one-of-the-biggest moviestars in the country a fact given credence not only by how well his last release, Secret Superstar, opened in China, but also by how magnificently its sustaining its business. Even after seventeen days since its release, the film continues to retain the no. 1 spot at the Chinese box-office, and has now crossed the 500-crore mark; a gross of Rs. 584.60 crore to be precise.
The film has also inched closer to the $100 million mark in the country (currently at $91.29 million), and should surpass the threshold by tomorrow or the day after the most, making it only the second Indian film after Dangal to do so in the overseas market. For it to have achieved so much after Aamir has not more than a cameo in the movie, speaks volumes of his stardom in China.

Secret Superstar has overpowered recent heavyweight Hollywood release in China like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Maze Runner: The Death Cure. Suffice it to say that Aamir’s box-office pull in the country is now on par with some of the biggest moviestars in China both indigenous and American.
