After a sensation opening, which was way larger than expected, Satyameva Jayate took a huge plunge on day two, but that was expected since it was a working Thursday, and that, too, straight after a big national holiday. The drop in collections may seem huge, but one needs to factor in the massive opening on a big, pan-India holiday, followed by a dull, regular day, where many wouldn’t visit the theaters. Considering all this, the John Abraham starrer still managed an impressive Rs. 7.92 crore nett to take its 2-day today to a very healthy Rs. 28.44 crore nett.
|Day-Wise||Nett Collection (INR)|
|Day One (Wednesday – Independence Day)||20.52 crore|
|Day Two (Regular Thursday)||7.92 crore|
If day two had fallen on a Friday and managed this number, it would have still been considered good, which makes the Thursday collection all the more impressive. Single screens all overs, and multiplexes in B and C centers, remained strong, while the expected drops came from the metros. Going forward, if the Milap Zaveri directorial continues along the same lines, it’s still manage to be a clean hit due to its low costs – albeit just about and with some struggle – on the strength of its opening alone.
However, today’s morning shows have already shown an upward trend, and with the weekend and another big holiday for Bakri-Eid looming on the horizon, we’re sticking to our prediction that this’ll be John’s first solo 100-crore blockbuster.
