Salman Khan’s this year’s Eid release, Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, was expected to set new records. However it could not reach the expected numbers and has managed to earn only Rs. 118.51 crores till date. Domestic theatrical rights were sold at 132 crores, and the earnings are much less compared to that. This has caused huge losses to the distributors. News was doing rounds that the distributors are asking Salman Khan to refund their loss. It is now reported that Salim Khan recently cleared the air around this and confirmed that they will be paying the money back.
Trade analyst Komal Nahta also backed this news with a tweet. After a long time, any Salman Khan film has hit such low numbers. Salim Khan has reportedly said that they will refund the money to the distributors; the share is yet to be confirmed. He also has cleared that Salman will pay the amount as the producer of the film and not as the star.
This gesture of Salman Khan is definitely a welcoming one and will set an example for others as well.
