All those waiting with bated breath for the second season of Sacred Games, will have to be patient longer than initially expected as the Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane directed web series is being reevaluated by Netflix, the digital platform bankrolling the show. The main points that have come under scrutiny are the numbers of season one and, as a result, the budget of season two.
Reportedly, Sacred Games, though a hit with its target audience in the metros, failed to bring in the desired numbers for Netflix on account of its niche content, resulting in significant losses for the world’s premiere OTT service, considering the huge budget Netflix’s head honchos had invested in the show. Though still a theory, it’s the most likely one as per reports compared talk of the show’s second season being shifted to a later date due to unavailability of the actor’s dates, which is now being pushed in the media by publicists of the makers and actors.
Whatever be the real reason, our fingers are crossed for season two of Sacred Games because all things considered, it’s still a landmark show in the realm of Indian broadcasting.
