After gaining tremendous popularity all across India for his portrayal of Bhallaladeva in the Baahubali films, Rana Daggubati is all set to be part of another epic period film, and this time, he’ll be playing the lead role. Telugu Director, Gunasekhar, has roped in the actor for his next project – a lavish period piece centered on an important chapter in Hindu mythology. Incidentally, Gunasekhar has previously worked with Rana on another period film – 2015’s Rudhramadevi, in which the actor had played a supporting role to Anushka Shetty’s lead character.
This time though Rana will be essaying the lead role of Hiranyakashipu, who was the father of Prahladha as per Hindu scriptures. According to legend, Hiranyakashipu was a king who had earned a boon from the Hindu God, Brahma, which made him virtually invulnerable. His newfound power had made him grow increasingly arrogant and greedy, and all he desired was to amass wealth, land, and live a life of carnal pleasure as time passed by. In due course, Hiranyakashipu even tried to kill his son, Prahladha, who was a staunch devotee of the Hindu God, Vishnu, and was finally stopped when Vishnu decided to appear in his part-human, part-animal form, and disembowel Hiranyakashipu.
Wow, we can totally imagine a Rana Daggubati in that role. How about you?
