Raid overtakes Pad Man as Bollywoods third-highest grosser of 2018

Raid is continuing to trend fantastically at the box-office. After enjoying good growth over its second weekend, the Ajay Devgn starrer has held very well on its second Monday, to firmly set itself on the path to be Bollywoods third clean hit of the year after Padmaavat and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (both of which surpassed all expectations, going on to be blockbusters). The film has collected Rs. 81.95 crore nett after just eleven days terrific for a non-masala, serious thriller showing that the content has been greatly appreciated and the word-of-mouth is still going strong.

Day-Wise Net Collection (INR)
Day One 10.04 crore
Day Two 13.86 crore
Day Three 17.11 crore
Day Four 6.26 crore
Day Five 5.76 crore
Day Six 5.36 crore
Day Seven 4.66 crore
Week One 63.05 crore
Day Eight 3.55 crore
 Day Nine 5.71 crore
Day Ten 7.22 crore
Day Eleven 2.42 crore
 Total 81.95 crore

In addition, Raid has alos overtaken Akshay Kumars Pad Man to emerge as the third-highest grossing Hindi film of the year in the domestic market. Its unlikely though that the film will challenge SKTKS as the second-highest Bollywood grosser of the year. Nevertheless, the trade is still very happy with its box-office performance as it has continued the great start that Bollywood has taken in the first quarter of 2018 something the industry has failed to do for many years.

Film Net Collection (INR)
Padmaavat 296.42 crore
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety 105.35 crore
Raid 81.95 crore
Pad Man 81.68 crore
Pari 28.65 crore
Hate Story IV 22.04 crore
Hichki 17.75 crore
1921 15.94 crore
Mukkabaaz 10.51 crore
Kaalakaandi 6.34 crore

The collections of Raid are further testimony to the fact that as long as a trailer is well appreciated and the content is there to back it up, nothing more is needed for a film to succeed, outing the superfluous nature of lavish marketing campaigns and city tours into perspective. Of course, it does help if you have a superstar like Ajay Devgn as the face of your film, but only to an extent, as Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and other recent releases of its ilk have proven that stars can only give you a good opening, but, ultimately, its universally appealing content that triumphs, especially in todays times.
