Both the Tamil and Telugu film industries have just been shaken with the shocking news of eight of its top personalities receiving non-bailable arrest warrants. Earlier today, Judge Senthilkumar Rajavel of Nilgiris Criminal Court in Tamil Nadu ordered the police to issue the warrants against Suriya, Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay, Sri Priya, Vijaykumar, Sarathkumar, Vivek, and Cheran in connection with a 2009 case filed by a journalist.
During a Nadigar Sangam (officially known as the South Indian Artistes’ Association or SIAA) meeting in 2009, a group of journalists alleged that the aforementioned celebrities had made derogatory statements against them and their profession. Later, one of the scribes, Rozario, filed a case against the eight artistes, which has been in the Nilgiris Criminal Court till now. However, none of the eight named in the case appeared before the court till date, which finally prompted Senthilkumar Rajavel, the judge presiding over it, to order non-bailable arrest warrants against all of the accused.
It remains to be seen how this matter ensues. Stay tuned for further updates.
