Nayanthara, who’s a trailblazer of sorts when it comes to redefining the concept of the South Indian heroine, has once again decided to go where leading Southern ladies fear to tread. The actress has decided to once again play a mother’s role; this time for her character in Imaikkaa Nodigal, where it has already been confirmed that she’d be seen as a tough cop. In other words, Lady Superstar is going to essay two of the toughest female characters in all of cinema that of a mother and a cop, and, like always, we’re sure that she’ll nail them both.
Where it’s generally concerned suicidal for top Southern heroines to play mother’s characters, at least for the bulk of their screen-time, Nayanthara is ready to don the mantle for a second time, after receiving widespread acclaim for her marvelous performance in the 2015 horror film, Maya, which speaks volumes of her confidence in herself and conviction to her craft. She’s one heroine who’s constantly pushing boundaries and striking a perfect balance between commercial fare like Iru Mugan and Thani Oruvan, and grittier roles like the ones in Maya and Imaikkaa Nodigal. No wonder, Nayanthara is unequivocally known as Lady Superstar.
Coming to the film, Imaikkaa Nodigal is gaining serious traction prior to its release, with its massive sets, plot-line, and Nayanthara and her costars’ roles generating tremendous buzz.
