Bollywood has come up with such endearing tales of real people and events that have become superhits and earned critical acclaim from the audience and industry veterans.

Based on the real life story of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who was a national champion and an Olympian Bhaag Milkha Bhaag gathered positive response from all corners. It was a superhit at the box office and received critical acclaim as well. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the movie swept away all major awards of the year 2013 including a National Award for Best Popular Film for Wholesome Entertainment.

Based on the life story of Paan Singh Tomar, an Indian athlete, soldier and rebel, this movie focuses on his life and how he transforms from a soldier to a rebel. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Paan Singh Tomar manages to capture the essence of the situation that turned an Indian athlete and soldier into one of the notorious dacoit who was killed by the Indian law authorities. The movie garnered critical acclaim and was declared a superhit and also won the National Award in that year.


No One Killed Jessica

Jessica Lal murder case rocked the nation and No One Killed Jessica is heavily inspired by the true story behind it. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, this movie received critical acclaim and positive box office response not only because of the solid storyline, but also because of stellar performance of Rani Mukherji and Vidya Balan that play the central characters in the movie. Rani Mukherji walked away with the Filmfare for Best Supporting Actress.

The movie received great response at the box office while winning the hearts of critics across the country. Aishwarya Rai latest movie Jazbaa also managed to garner good response at the box office.
