Mersal is simply refusing to slow down at the box-office. If one thought that the film might run out of steam after becoming the first Vijay starrer to gross 200 crore, then that notion has been expelled because it has continued to move from strength to strength, intent on creating a slew of box-office records before the end of its lifetime run. With a gross of Rs. 222.1 crore in its kitty after three weeks in theaters, Mersal has now overtaken Kamal Haasan’s blockbuster, Vishwaroopam, to become Tamil cinema’s fourth-highest grosser of all time and also the sixth-highest South grosser ever.
|Circuit-Wise||Gross Collection (INR)|
|Tamil Nadu||115.10 crore|
|Rest of India||4 crore|
|Rest of the World||6.70 crore|
Kollywood’s 200-crore box-office club

The film is still holding well the world over even after three weeks at the box-office, and looks set to one even surpassing the lifetime total of Chiyaan Vikram’s I to be the highest non-Rajni Kollywood grosser ever. For all intents and purposes, Thalapathy Vijay‘s Mersal is an irrefutable superhit at the box-office.
