After a roaring success last year with horror comedy Stree, Dinesh Vijan of Maddock films has outdone himself with Luka Chuppi’s first day collection.
The Kartik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon starrer, which explores live-in relationships albeit in the mold of a family entertainer, has opened to 8.01 crore nett, beating films like Raazi, Badhaai Ho, and lead actor Kartik’s own Sonu Ke Titu Ki So, all of which went on to be blockbusters last year.
The film has garnered strong word-of-mouth and generally positive reviews, proving yet again that content truly is king. Maddock films has shown a strong steady trend in exploring powerful stories made at modest budgets, guaranteeing larger profit margins.
The reports for today’s occupancy are better than yesyday, indicating a big weekend on the cards. Monday being a partial holiday could also offer a boost to the collections. There’s no “Luka Chuppi” with the success this film has coming its way. Luka Chuppi is produced by Dinesh Vijan in association with Jio Studios, and has been directed by Laxman Utekar.
