It’s the season of biopics for Indian cinema, be it Bollywood, Kollywood, or Tollywood, and keeping up with the trend, another biopic on a famous, much-loved, and polarizing personality is in the making. A project on the life of former Tamil Nadu CM and yesteryears screen icon, Jayalalitha, has been green lit by Vibri Media, who’re already coproducing the NTR biopic starring his son, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and a film based on a famous real-life incident, ’83, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Kabir Khan.
The film will be launched on 24th February next year along with its first look as it happens to be Amma’s (as she was fondly called by her ardent followers and supporters) birth anniversary, while a release toward the end of 2019 has been tentatively decided. Tamil Director Vijay of A.L. Vijay of Madrasapattinam, Deiva Thirumagal, and Thaandavam fame. The film will be made as a trilingual – Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu – with Vijay having some experience in this multi-format, having helmed the 2016 trilingual Devi (Abhinetri in Telugu and Tutak Tutak Tutiya in Hindi).
Some big names from both the South and Bollywood like Nayanthara, Trisha Krishnana, Keerthy Suresh, Vidya Balan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are being spoken about for the role. Let’s see who bags the coveted role because whoever does so, would have some huge shoes to fill and immense expectations to live up to.
