Jab Harry Met Sejal Box Office: Srk-Anushka Starrer Witnesses Minimal Growth On Day 3

In a year which is turning out to be a surprising one for the box office, with big films failing to deliver, it was expected that Shah Rukh Khan will be a savior and his much-anticipated Imtiaz Ali film Jab Harry Met Sejal will create wonders at theatres. However, audience has yet again proved that nothing goes as per the calculated formula of a hit and what drives the success is the content.

Jab Harry Met Sejal opened much below the expectations and the trend continued on Day 2 as well. The total collection of the first two days was Rs. 30.25 Crore which was not a good sign for a superstar’s film. On Sunday, the film was expected to witness growth which will help it reach the respectable 50-Crore-mark. But it seems that viewers are not impressed with the romantic tale which Imtiaz-SRK-Anushka trio has brought out as the collections witnessed nominal increase on its third day at theatres. Now Jab Harry Met has reached a total of Rs. 45.75 Crore which is much lesser than expected.

Day-Wise Collection in Nett (INR)
Day One (Friday) 15.25 Crore
Day Two (Saturday) 15 Crore
Day Three (Sunday) 15.50 Crore
Total 45.75 Crore

The film received negative reviews and the word-of-mouth also was not very strong. This has resulted in such an unanticipated performance of the film even if it had created a huge buzz prior to its release. This makes JHMS fall way behind the top-performers of the year. SRK’s previous release of this year Raees, despite of a clash with another superstar film Kaabil, performed much better than JHMS.

Film Day One in Nett (INR) Opening Weekend in Nett (INR)
Baahubali 2 (Hindi) 41 Crore 128 Crore
Raees 20.42 Crore 93.24 Crore (Extended Weekend)
Kaabil 10.43 Crore 67.46 Crore (Extended Weekend)
Tubelight 21.15 Crore 64.77 Crore (Extended Weekend)
Jolly LLB 2 13.20 Crore 50.46 Crore
Jab Harry Met Sejal 15.25 Crore 45.75 Crore

With the opening weekend not fulfilling the monumental expectations that everyone had from the film, all eyes are now trained on Monday, owing to partial holiday for Raksha Bandhan. The collection is expected to be better than that of a regular Monday, but barring a miracle, it isn’t going to be good enough to save the film in the long run.
