Bhumi Pednekar opens up about on her bold film choices that have made her one of the poster girls for good content cinema. Bhumi Pednekar is on a roll with her brave content choices that have all become blockbusters. Being hailed as one of the most exciting young actors of Bollywood, Bhumi has carved her niche with her brilliant acting and equally brilliant film choices that have seen her play an equal to a man.
Bhumi says, “I don’t really have a formula to choose scripts or a set way that only if I get this in a film that I will do it. I am a very instinctive person – I have always gone by my gut and so far, my gut has worked really well like. Every decision I took was because I really felt that my character was an integral part of the story. I take some time to choose the script I want to do because honestly there is such good work happening around that you are spoilt for choice and it’s also just about what you are more convinced about.”
Having said that, Bhumi is not just interested in doing social relevant cinema. She just loves good content. “It is truly the age of content and I’m lucky to be a part of this era. I am not looking at doing just socially relevant cinema. The first three films were all quirky and it also gave some kind of knowledge to audiences. They all dealt with socially tabooed stories but they all worked beautifully which validated my content choices. I do enjoy doing social dramas because I am a socially aware person,” she says.
Bhumi’s next line up of movies are incredibly diverse. “Pati Patni Aur Woh, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Takht, Bala, Saand Ki Aankh – these are all extremely different films and I’m relishing at the opportunity to constant experiment. I’m extremely happy at where I’m today and I only want to get better at my craft and do great cinema that people enjoy thoroughly,” says the actresses.
