Highest-Grossing Telugu Films Of 2016

Box-Office Tollywood Top

2016 has been a topsy-turvy year for Telugu cinema in general. Though Tollywood scored big at the box-office, both domestic and worldwide, and ended the year with huge profits, that commercial success seldom translated into critical acclaim. Barring a few films like Nannaku Prematho and Gentleman, which strode both factors successfully, the usual story of hotchpotch masala movies and shoddy remakes of better Tamil films dominating the scene did the rounds.

Nevertheless, we’re talking about the highest grossers of the year, so, let’s stick to the box-office for now. Two Telugu films crossed the 100-crore mark and, overall, a good success ratio was maintained at the box-office and the ROI on investments, too, was pretty good for the distributors.

In this feature, we’ll focus on the top five worldwide Telugu grossers of 2016 while also taking a look at which actors and Directors feature among the year’s biggest hits.
