There’s seems to be no end to the troubles plaguing Hera Pheri 3. After Akshay Kumar and Suniely Shetty were replaced by Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the third installment, the film failed to take off due to date and script issues, following which industry insiders and fans feared that it might get shelved. However, the project received a major shot in the arm when it was confirmed a couple a weeks ago that Akshay and Suniel are on board with Director Indra Kumar set to helm the third part of the superhit comedy franchise. But, once again, the films has run into choppy waters.
Sources close to the production have revealed that the film has been announced with nothing more than a one-line idea that Akshay liked and agreed to be a part of it if and only if the idea was blossomed into a full-fledged script that does justice to the franchise’s appeal. Nothing is in place on that front though, and Akshay is very clear that he’s in no rush to begin the movie until and unless a bound script is developed, since it would be unfair to simply in cash in on the franchise’s popularity and give the fans something half-baked when they’ve been waiting with bated breath for the film.
On the other hand, Indra Kumar is currently neck-deep applying the finishing touched to his December release, Total Dhamaal, and will only shift his focus to Hera Pheri 3 from January 2019, after which he’ll have a brainstorming team with his writers to come up with a good script. Given this time-table and the process involved, the film is likely to go on floors only in the second half of 2019, and probably target a release date sometime during the first half of 2020. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala was hoping for a Christmas 2019 release, but that is not to be now.
