We had reported our readers yesterday that yesteryear heartthrob Manisha Koirala, best known for her successful, acclaimed collaborations with Mani Ratnam and Shankar, has been roped in for an important role in national award-winning Tamil filmmaker Bala’s ambitious multi-starrer project ‘Kutra Parambarai’.
Kutra Parambarai features an all-star cast of Vishal, ‘Baahubali’ fame Rana Daggubai, Arya, Atharvaa Murali and Arvind Swamy.
“The film is set in the 19th century British era. It will deal extensively about the ‘Denotified and Nomadic Tribes’ who were notified by the British as ‘criminal’ communities. Even today, millions of people who belong to these tribes face discrimination that they were subjected to thousand years back,” says a source about the plot.
“It is a highly controversial subject. Veterans like Kamal Haasan and Bharathiraja attempted to revive this project on various occasions, but only in vain. Bala is controversy’s favorite child and he is the apt choice to make this daring film,” informs a source who is privy to the project’s development.
Billed as Bala’s most expensive project with enormous production values, Kutra Parambarai is expected to go on floors in April or May once everything is finalized.
