1.) The Ministry
Irrfan Khan is set to star in an Amazon Original Series, The Ministry, which will be a political satire set in contemporary India’s corridors of power. The series, created by Gursimran Khamba of popular comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB), will premiere in 2018 on Amazon Prime Video. Irrfan has previously starred in a number of web videos for AIB, so it’s not surprising that he’s heading the cast of their maiden web show.
Maverick filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is all set to launch his own OTT platform, and the web series Untouchables will be the first show to be featured on his new platform. His daughter Krishna Bhatt, who also assisted him in films like 1920, Mr. X, Haunted 3D, and Dangerous Ishq will make her directorial debut with the show. Untouchables is a crime thriller cenetered on a gripping courtroom drama, which revolves around a medical student, who moonlights as an escort, and lands up facing a murder rap when her wealthy client is killed.
3.) Sacred Games
Based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 thriller novel of the same name, this Netflix show will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films, and will feature eight hour-long episodes directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane of Udaan and Lootera fame – the cofounders of Phantom. The series will star Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Radhika Apte in lead roles.
4.) Inside Edge Season 2
Inside Edge’s pilot season, featuring Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Angad Bedi, and Tanuj Virwani, was the most–watched show on Prime Video in India. The makers have confirmed that season 2 is on the way, and we’re licking our lips while counting down the days.
5.) TVF Tripling 2
One of the earleist hit Indian web series, TVF Tripling, created by The Viral Fever, traced the story of three siblings – Chandan, Chanchal, and Chitvan – as they together commence a hilarious journey, to find themselves and their relatives. Sumeet Vyas, one of the leads of the show, has confirmed that season 2 is around the corner.
Starring R. Madhavan, Amit Sadh, Hrishikesh Joshi, Nina Kulkarni, and Sapna Pabbi; Breathe is touted to be a thriller that explores the lives of ordinary men faced with extraordinary circumstances. Written and directed by Mayank Sharma – who previously assisted on titled like Table No. 21 and Chashme Baddoor – it happens to be Amazon’s first trilingual venture, releasing simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
7.) The Test Case
This Hindi web series being directed by Vinay Waikul and Nagesh Kukunoor stars Nimrat Kaur, Atul Kulkarni, Rahul Dev, Manit Joura, and Akshay Oberoi in lead roles along with Juhi Chawla in a guest appearance. The pilot episode is already available for streaming on the ALT Balaji App and its associated websites. Recently, the producer of the show has announced that shooting for the remaining nine episodes has been completed and can be streamed from 26th January 2018.
