We’re not getting ahead of ourselves and we very well know that 2017 has just begun and that there are many exciting films to look forward to this year itself. The reason why we can’t wait for 2018 is because some supremely interesting films have already been announced for the year, and they make the movie-buff in you wish that you could time travel, watch them in a theater months beforehand, and then return and slyly snigger at everyone who discuss their expectations from them.
Here are seven films that are already making 2018 seem too far away:
Boasting the highest budget ever for an Indian film and promising some dazzling VFX that could rival Baahubali. 2.O is, for all intents and purposes, the biggest film to release in 2018, and with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar collaborating for the first time, it has a mighty good chance of breaking every box-office record in sight.
Neeraj Pandey is known for his high-quality, intelligent cinema without compromising on all the necessary commercial elements, which make for a well-rounded entertaining film. Aiyaary, which is based on real-life events, is shaping to be another slickly made action film from Pandey that should appeal to all sections of the audience.
After a stupendous 2016 and a promising lineup in 2017, Akshay Kumar looks set to continue his red-hot streak in 2018 with the sports biopic, Gold, based on an unsung sporting hero, Balbir Singh, under whose captaincy India had won three consecutive Olympic Gold Medals in hockey.
4.) Krrish 4
Hrithik Roshan will be back as India’s very-own superhero. What’s not there to look forward to? Move over, Avengers and Justice League; Krrish needs to strut his stuff in 2018.
With Crack, Akshay Kumar will reunite with his Baby and Special 26 Director, Neeraj Pandey, for the third time, in what appears to be another crackerjack film.
6.) Untitled Salman Khan-Karan Johar coproduction starring Akshay Kumar
Akki again, and this time, he’ll be starring in a joint venture by Salman and KJo, which is supposedly based on the famously intrepid Battle of Saragarhi. Is there no slowing this man down?
7.) Thugs of Hindostan
Aami Khan will follow up his all-time blockbuster, Dangal, with Thugs of Hindostan, a film based on high-seas adventure and piracy, where he’ll be seen alongside Anushka Sharma for the second time and Amitabh Bachchan for the first time. We’re already tripping.
8.) Shah Rukh Khan’s Dwarf Film with Aanand L. Rai
SRK as a dwarf with a Director known for etching sumptuous characters with unique quirks in his films – we can already smell a glut of awards a countless glowing reviews.
Giving Krrish company in 2018 will be superheroes Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in a film tentatively titled Dragon. Perhaps, this could pave the way for a desi superhero mashup.
Could these films release a year early, and make 2017 even more bombastic? Ah, if wishes were horses…
