After beginning on a very positive note yesterday, John Abraham and Varun Dhawans Dishoom has seen a decent jump of 10-15% at the domestic box-office, which sets it up for a potentially good first week. Ideally, the makers would have preferred a jump in the 20-30% range, but with torrential showers lashing parts of the country, theyll settle for this. Still, by collecting a Rs. 12.02 crores nett on its second day, the film sits impressively at the fifth position among second-day figures this year.
|Film||Day Two Collections (INR)|
|Housefull 3||16.30 crores|
|Udta Punjab||11.25 crores|
Also, the Rohit Dhawan directorial joins Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoors Baaghi at fifth place this year by posting an estimated 2-day total of Rs. 23 crore nett.
|Film||Overall 2-Day Total (INR)|
|Housefull 3||31.51 crores|
|Udta Punjab||21.30 crores|
Going by the trends in the trade, the buddy-cop venture should witness a better jump on Sunday, finishing with collections in the 36-38 crore range, which augurs well for a promising lifetime run. Salman Khans Sultan is all but at the end of its run, and with no big release till Hrithik Roshans Mohenjo Daro and Akshay Kumars Rustom hit screens two weeks later, Dishoom has every chance of going on to be a strong performer at the domestic box-office, giving Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment a hattrick of successful films in 2016.
