John Abraham and Varun Dhawan’s Dishoom has held impressively through the weekdays to post a healthy total of Rs. 53.34 crore nett in its first week, which bodes well for a strong lifetime collection. After taking a decent opening on Friday, the film saw excellent jumps over the rest of the weekend, particularly on Sunday. However, the action-comedy had to pass the all-important test over the weekdays, if it had a realistic chance of venturing into safe territory. Doing exactly that, Dishoom now stands with the possibility of turning over profits for its makers and distributors.
Here’s the day-wise breakdown of the film:
|Day-Wise||Collections in Nett (INR)|
Also, the film now sits prettily at the sixth position this year among highest- first-week grossers, overtaking the likes of Udta Punjab and Kapoor & Sons.
|Film||First Week Collections in Nett (INR)|
|Housefull 3||80.10 crore|
|Udta Punjab||48.50 crore|
|Kapoor & Sons||46.93 crore|
With another open week till Akshay Kumar’s Rustom and Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro hit theaters, the Rohit Dhawan-directorial can easily add another 15-20 crore in its second week to be declared as the third successful film of 2016 for Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (after Baaghi and Housefull 3).
