After winning hearts by being a part of a slew of highly successful films, where she always held her own in front of several senior male superstars and contemporary costars, before going on to carve her space as the next big female superstar after Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit – reemphasized by the fact that she starred in the first 300-crore blockbuster (Padmaavat) to be headlined by an female actor – Deepika Padukone has now decided to turn producer.
Deepika has been focusing all her energies of late in setting up her own production house, which is also one of the main reasons for her having kept a low profile post Padmaavat – well, that, and her impending marriage plans, of course. What’s more, reports also suggest that the actress has zeroed in on a script for her maiden production venture, which revolves around a pertinent female-centric topic. She has also found a revered partner for the project in filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, who’ll be jointly producing the film with Deepika.
Word is that the plot of Deepika and Meghna’s first production together is centered on renowned acid-attack survivor, Lakshmi, who underwent nine corrective surgeries and became a beacon of hope for fellow victims of acid attacks. The film is slated to go on floors early next year.
