After taking a surprisingly good start, Commando 2 failed to register a much-needed jump on day two, which would have placed it in good stead for a healthy run at the ticket window. However, even though the film failed to grow, it did not drop by a huge margin, which still gives it a chance, provided a big jump comes on Sunday. As things stand now, the Vidyut Jammwal starrer collected Rs. 4.42 crore nett on day two, taking its domestic box-office total so far to Rs. 9.56 crore nett.
|Day-Wise||Collections in Nett (INR)|
|Day One (Friday)||5.14 crore|
|Day Two (Saturday)||4.42 crore|
Comparatively, the first Commando film, which had released back in 2013, showed a similar drop on day two, but the margin between the two films is still quite substantial because of the sequel’s superior opening.
|Film||Day One in Nett (INR)||Day Two in Nett (INR)|
|Commando||3.69 crore||3.25 crore|
|Commando 2||5.14 crore||4.42 crore|
|Film||2-Day Total in Nett (INR)|
|Jolly LLB 2||30.51 crore|
|Commando 2||9.56 crore|
|Ok Jaanu||8.98 crore|
The problem with the Deven Bhojani film is that the audience at A centers are simply not turning up to see it, and its business is almost entirely reliant on single screens and smaller multiplexes in B and C centers. However, the worrying part for its investors would be the drop in occupancy in these centers, indicating that the word-of-mouth is mixed. The Hollywood film, Logan, which released simultaneously with Commando 2 is also giving it stiff competition. The film could be in trouble if Sunday’s figures don’t witness a 30-40% jump.
