It takes a special Director to convince a special actor to go against type and play an out-an-out villain against a fresh and upcoming actor in the role of the protagonist. So, it was only fitting that a Director of the caliber of Gautham Vasudev Menon pulled this off. Now Chiyaan Vikram has played bad guys before, most recently in the superhit, Iru Mugan, but they’ve mostly been in dual or even triple roles, where one of those roles had him in a villainous avatar. Hitherto, the supremely talented actor has never played the sole villain in a film.
However, all that is about to change as news has come in that GVM has convinced Vikram to go all-out evil in his next film, which also stars Malayalam heartthrob, Nivin Pauly, who’s been making all the right noises in Tamil cinema of late. Nivin will play the protagonist opposite Vikram’s antagonist.
