As opposed to years gone by this decade, 2018 has seen a major overhaul at the box-office. The first quarter has been nothing short of fantastic for the Hindi film industry both commercially and critically, with some huge grossers already being registered, including one of the one-of-the-biggest hits in the history of Bollywood (Padmaavat). In stark contrast, the years preceding 2018 this decade had to wait till at least six to seven months before the big money-spinners began rolling in.

No prizes for guessing that Padmaavat tops the list so far both domestically and internationally. But the first quarter of 2018 received a major boost by the surprising blockbuster run of Baaghi 2 (it was expected to set the cash registers ringing but not in this way) and the even-more-surprising blockbuster run of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (absolutely no one expected it rake in this much moolah even though the trailer had created good buzz). It has also helped that films like Raid and Hichki both hit the bulls-eye at the box-office even if they didn’t end up being colossal profit churners while Pad Man and Hate Story IV also turned over small profit margins in spite of missing out on the ‘clean hit’ tag.
So, without further ado, let’s check out Bollywood’s top ten worldwide grossers of 2018:
|Baaghi 2||230 crore||Blockbuster|
|Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety||149 crore||Blockbuster|
|Pad Man||124 crore||Semi-Hit|
|Hate Story IV||27 crore||Above Average|
With several biggies starring bona-fide superstars slated for release in the coming months, expect to see several new entries with mega bucks on this list. At long last, Bollywood has a golden opportunity to witness one of its best years of all time at the box-office.
