After taking a much-lower-than-desired opening, Batti Gul Meter Chalu needed big jumps over the weekend to be able to sustain in the long run. However, while the growth came, it’s nowhere near as enough for the film to have any hope of emerging commercially successful in the long run. With a collection of Rs. 23.26 crore nett in its opening weekend, the Shahid Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer is staring down the barrel in days to come.
|Day-Wise||Nett Collection (INR)|
|Day One (Friday)||6.76 crore|
|Day Two (Saturday)||7.96 crore|
|Day Three (Sunday)||8.54 crore|
Batti Gul Meter Chalu will find it tough to remain afloat even if the holds over the weekdays are incredibly strong, which anyway seems highly likely given the ubiquitously middling reviews and unflattering word-of-mouth. In fact, with a budget close to 50 crore and considering that the film has been sold at a flat rate to its distributors, it’s going to be are for it to even break even.
