After the massive success of Satyameva Jayate, the team of John Abraham, Nikkhil Advani, and Bhushan Kumar have again joined hands for Batla House – a real-life thriller, based on the famous encounter that took place a decade ago on 19th September at the eponymous location. The trio, who’ll be jointly producing the film with Krishan Kumar, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Sandeep Leyzell, have gone ahead and released a first-look poster along with a release date, which falls exactly in the same big holiday weekend that had made Satyameva Jayate such a big hit.
Check out the poster below:
John plays the role of India’s most decorated yet controversial cop, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who spearheaded the Batla House encounter, and also has a record 22 convictions from 30 cases and 9 Gallantry Awards. Speaking about the film and his character John said:
“Being recognized for films like Madras Cafe and Parmanu, I automatically gravitate towards scripts like Batla House. However, that also means that the script needs to live upto those standards. With Batla House, Ritesh (scriptwriter Ritesh Shah of D-Day, Airlift, Madaari, Pink, and Raid fame) blew me over with his precision in storytelling as well as the emotional roller coaster of the characters. I’m truly excited to bring this story alive to audiences.”
Nikkhil, who had served as one of the producers of Satyameva Jayate, will take up the directorial reins this time. He plans on rolling by mid-October and intents on shooting at multiple locations like Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nepal. Here are his thoughts on the project:
“Ritesh, who I have had the wonderful fortune of collaborating with on my life-changing films, D-Day and Airlift, came to me with this incredible story. He’s spent a painstaking four years researching, writing and fashioning a top-notch script. I’m so happy that John also recognized the power of this story and agreed to come aboard. Now all I have to do is call action and cut.”
The film’s third producer, Bhushan Kumar, says, “Nikkhil is presenting one such incident to the audience that needs to be heard. The posters will give our viewers a brief idea of what the film is about, and seeing John like this, everyone will definitely be intrigued.”
Directed by Nikkhil Advani and written by Ritesh Shah, Batla House is produced by T-Series, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment, in association with Bake My Cake Films. The film will hit screens on 15th August 2019.
