Shankar’s Mudhalvan, which had released back in 1999, went on to become one of the best-reviewed films and biggest hits of that year, and has, over the course of time, gone on to achieve cult status. Considering how well the film has aged and the note on which it ended, the opportunity for a sequel to Mudhalvan has always been ripe, but hitherto nothing than mere speculation has circulated. That is till now.
K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of the Baahubali films and S.S. Rajamouli’s father, has confirmed to a leading media outlet that he has been approached the makers of Mudhalvan to pen a sequel to the film, and he’s currently in the process of the first draft. He also disclosed that the producers have already approached Shankar to helm the sequel, and he’ll hand over the script to the Shankar and the producers once he’s done with it. However, Vijayendra Prasad couldn’t reveal if Arjun Sarja, who had played the lead role in the first part, would be returning for the sequel.
Nevertheless, a sequel to Mudhalvan does sound terrifically exciting, doesn’t it?
