Recently, at a press conference for Mohenjo Daro, one question on everyone’s mind was what drove the makers of both Mohenjo Daro and Rustom to pick the same release date for their films. Given that both films are highly awaited, with one carrying much bigger stakes because of its massive budget, the logical step would be for one to make way for the other. After some probing, Mohenjo Daro’s Director, Ashutosh Gowariker opened up about the clash.
Elaborating on why both films are releasing on the same day, Ashutosh said, “Clashes always happen. The thought does come to your mind that collections will get divided. But ultimately, you have to decide on a date based on your interest. Sholay and Jai Santoshi Maa released together, and so did Gadar and Lagaan (Ashutosh’s own film). I hope both Rustom and Mohenjo Daro will do well.”
Well, Ashutosh sure seems confident of his product, and why not? He does have to track-record to feel so.
