It looks like Singh is Kinng is finally getting a lon-awaited sequel. Akshay Kumar, the leading man of the 2008 superhit, did star in a quasi-sequel to the film with 2015’s Singh is Bliing, but neither did it do justice to the first film nor does anyone truly recognize it as a sequel to Singh is Kinng. However, reports now suggest that producer Vipul Amrutlala Shah is finally moving ahead with a second installment to the franchise after sorting out his differences with Director Anees Bazmee, who had helmed the first film and was involved in a long legal tussle over its ownership with Shah.
Further reports suggest that Vipul is planning to cast Arjun Kapoor in the main role this time after the actor impressed him no end with both his work ethic and performance in the soon-to-be-released Namaste England – another sequel to one of Shah’s earlier hits (Namastey London). An announcement for the same is expected soon.
While it’s good to hear that Singh is Kinng will finally be getting a proper sequel, the jury will be reserved on whether Arjun will make a worthy replacement for Akshay, who was pure dynamite in the role.
