Many were surprised when Arjun Kapoor was announced as the lead actor of Director Raj Kumar Gupta’s India’s Most Wanted, where he plays a tough-as-nails RAW agent. For one, the premise of the film indicates the kind of serious, gritty drama that Arjun isn’t usually associated with, and secondly, Director Raj Kumar Gupta has hitherto worked with actors known for previously excelling in hard-hitting roles. So many wondered how the two decided to come together to make the film. Well, the answer is superstar Ajay Devgn.
As per reports, during the shoot of Raid – released earlier this year to rousing critical and commercial acclaim – Gupta had taken Devgn into confidence about the idea for his next film – which has now materialized into India’s Most Wanted. Devgn loved the subject, but recommended Arjun’s name instead for the main part since he thought that the latter would be a perfect fit for the role, and that’s how the younger actor bagged the film.
In fact, word is rife in the industry that Devgn is taking a keen interest in Arjun’s career, and has even signed him for an upcoming home production as part of a concerted effort toward giving him a versatile image before the audience. To be fair, Arjun has displayed glimpses of his dramatic talent in his first two film, Ishaqzaade and Aurangzeb, and had even showcased his comic chops last year in Mubarakan. We hope that he renews the faith that Ajaty Devgn is placing in him.
