Veteran actor Anil Kapoor seems to be on a television crossover spree of sorts. After successfully adapting the hit Hollywood TV show, 24, to an Indian milieu and dubbing for an episode as a special guest star on the popular American animated sitcom, Family Guy, Anil is all set to adapt another avant-garde TV series from Hollywood shores for the Indian market – Prison Break.
As per Bollywood Hungama, the actor has recently acquired the remake rights to Prison Break, which had aired from 2005 to 2009 in the US and other parts of the world, and is regarded as one of the best shows ever made. Anil has confirmed that he’s acquired the rights for the show’s first season only, and after gauging the response it receives in the Indian market, will he consider buying the rights for the remaining three seasons. However, this time, Anil will only work on the show in the capacity of a producer, and wouldn’t be featuring in it himself.
Prison Break was centered on a political conspiracy, where an innocent man is sent to death row, and his only hope lies with his federal agent brother, who makes it his mission to deliberately get himself incarcerated in the same prison so that he can break the both of them out. It’ll be interesting to see how the show will be adapted to an Indian setting, and if it’ll meet with the same success as 24.
