Neeraj Pandey’s Baby was one of the best-received films of 2015, with people still talking fondly about it. It’s also one of the best action films in the history of Indian cinema. And while Akshay Kumar is known for his tough onscreen persona, the film also offered good scope for the supporting cast to shine in their action avatars, regardless how less their screen time was. One such character, who left a lasting impression on the audience, was that of Taapsee Pannu’s Shabana.
We were the first to report of Neeraj Pandey’s plan of making a spinoff to Baby, titled Naam Shabana, which would be based entirely on Taapsee’s character from the original film. This came as great news for all the fans of Baby, and since then, we’ve been waiting for further information on the film.
Well, the wait has finally ended as the first look of Naam Shabana, featuring both Akshay and Taapsee, is out. Akshay took to social media yesterday to post the film’s first look from Malaysia, where a long 3-week schedule of the film has begun. Akshay tweeted a picture calling Taapsee the hero of the film since the spinoff will be mostly focused on her journey toward becoming a special agent, with Akshay having an extended cameo in it.
Some highly intense fight and action sequences have been planned. Both Akki and Taapsee have trained extensively for their portions. The duo will be shooting across famous locations in Kuala Lampur, including the City Centre and close to the Petronas Towers. The first schedule will be wrapped up in Malaysia by the 1st week of November, after which the team will return to Mumbai for the next schedule.
