Recently, Director Ezhil, who’s been among the few lucky filmmakers to have directed Ajith in back-to-back films, regaled another awe-inspiring incident about the actor while talking to Behindwoods. Recounting the time Thala was critically laid up in a hospital – having almost lost his voice – Ezhil revealed how, despite overwhelming odds, the former overcame severe adversity to keep a promise he had made to the Director.
“Poovellam Un Vaasam (the first collaboration between Ajith and Ezhil) is a pleasant story about two families. Ajith sir was supposed to do Pennin Manathai Thottu, my previous film. But the producer and Ajith sir didn’t come to terms. When Aascar Ravi sir asked me to tell a story to Ajith sir, I narrated Poovellam Un Vaasam. At that time, Ajith sir was undergoing a throat operation in Apollo hospitals. He told me he will come back next week in a very confident manner. Actually, Ajith sir was in a critical stage where he might have lost his voice. But, he came strong and heard my script next week and did the film happily.”
