A few months ago we had revealed that Aamir Khan would be putting all future projects on hold post the release of Thugs of Hindostan to focus on his ambitious home production, Mahabharata. In fact, he also excused himself from the upcoming Rakesh Sharma biopic for this reason, after which Shah Rukh Khan stepped to essay the role of the esteemed astronaut. Aamir has planned the franchise as a 10-year project, which will see him essaying the role of Arjun, while other A-list names were being considered for other pivotal characters.
Well, while the other plans remain intact, it has been learned that Aamir has taken a U-turn when it comes to the casting for two reasons: A-list names for so many crucial roles in a project of this magnitude would explode the budget out of proportion and the casting choices could also create needles controversies given the current times we find ourselves in. In fact, Aamir, too, has now decided to not play Arjun, and will only concentrate on producing and assembling the entire franchise. Hes also in two minds now over whether he should continue with his original plan of making the Mahabharata into a franchise of feature films or a web series.
Whatever be the casting and format decisions, we just hope that Aamir goes ahead with Mahabharata because if anyone in Bollywood can pull of a project of such scale, its him.
