Age is no bar when a film’s content clicks with the audience, which seasoned pros Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor have proven, by turning back the clock and emerging as box-office stars. Their recent release, 102 Not Out – their seventh film together – has gone on to cross the 50-crore mark at the box-office (Rs. 50.01 crore nett after 24 days) – something most young stars can’t boast off in films targeted solely at multiplex metro audiences.
|Week-Wise||Nett Collection (INR)|
|Week One||27.70 crore|
|Week Two||14.16 crore|
|Week Three||6.23 crore|
|Weekend Four||1.92 crore|
Though 102 Not Out didn’t work much outside the metros, it didn’t need to since it connected big time with its target audience, and also saw a wider release mostly in multiplexes. This again shows that it a film plays it smart, keep its costs in check, and markets itself mostly in those circuits where it’s likely to find an audience, then recovery and profits will happen more often than not. 102 Not Out had already been declared a hit by the end of week three, and this milestone is just another feather to its cap. It should finish off with collections in the range of 52-53 crore nett.
